Craft Beer

“Otobbean Ale,” Otobe Town's craft beer, came to life at “Otobe Oiwake Brewing" in Otobe Town, Hokkaido. The craft beer is brewed using ingredients nurtured by the nature of Otobe Town and local mineral water. A restaurant, “Guild Endeavor,” is built next to the brewery and serves popular dishes that bring out the best of the local ingredients and Naples pizza cooked in a firewood kiln.

Sennosuke was born in December 2012 in Kushiro City as a store directly managed by Sasaya Shoten Co., Ltd., the best seafood processing company in Hokkaido. It opened in Otobe in 2015. The store is special because a fishing company directly manages it. The products are sold after carefully choosing fresh fish every morning at the market, which is immediately processed at the company’s factory, keeping the freshness when it was caught.

Takise Coast (Shirafura)

Takise Coast is a coast in Otobe Town located northwest of Hakodate City. The sandy beach stretches for about 7 km and is known for its shirafura and kuguri-iwa. The kuguri-iwa is said to have been excavated by local fishermen to support herring fishing about 400 years ago. Among the stratum of white rock cliff that spans for about 4 km, the breathtaking sheer cliff of about 500 m that exceeds a height of 30 m is called shirafura, which means “white sloping land” in the ancient local language.

Tate-no-Saki

Tate-no-Misaki, known for its chalk-white cliff, is called the "Grand Canyon of the East." Crustal movements raised the cape in ancient times as the strata accumulated on the bottom of the sea. “Hirenzuka,” a stone monument built to remember lovers who died together for not being able to be together, is right south of the cape.
