Sushimon

A sushi restaurant that serves fresh local seafood committed to the freshness of the sushi toppings. It is very popular with locals and tourists with its reasonable pricing. Although it depends on the season, in addition to sushi, a sea urchin bowl and three-color bowl (sea urchin, squid, salmon roe, depending on the catch of the day) are also served.

Experience the port town that flourished with wealth, acquired from herring fishing and the Kitamae Bune trading ships during the Edo Period. Dress in a kimono and walk the ancient streets while the guide points out the many historical landmarks. You can also try your hand at making your very own good luck charm.

Stamp Experience
(Former Hiyama Nishi Subprefectual Hall)

You can experience making your own stamp at the "Former Hiyama Nishi Subprefectural Hall” built using Western architecture on a hill along the "Inishie Kaido Street.” You can make your own stamp for 500 yen for a piece. It takes about 20 - 30 minutes for each piece.

Kaiyomaru Memorial Museum

The remains of the Bakufu battleship "Kaiyomaru," which sank over 100 years ago, are preserved and on display for the public. Inside the ship, visitors can learn about the history surrounding the battleship, and view the hands-on exhibits.

Esashi Oiwake Hall/Esashi Float Hall

The museum preserves the Esashi Oiwake folk song, which was passed on from Echigo(present day Niigata). Everyday between the end of April and October, a live performance of the Esashi Oiwake and local Hokkaido folk songs are held.

Ubagamidaijingu Shrine

It is said to be the oldest shrine in Hokkaido. A festival is held every year from August 9th - 11th. 13 luxurious and gorgeous floats parade through the town over 3 days.
